Chances are you know at least one person who has been affected by cancer. Put on your swimmers and hit Sydney Harbour to raise money for the Children’s Cancer Institute at the Balmoral Swim for Cancer. Races include a 1 km swim, 5 km swim, and various events for kids.
Oxfam Trailwalker Sydney
Instead of spending your weekend at the pub or beach, why not walk 100 km around Sydney to raise funds for Oxfam? The Oxfam Trailwalker Sydney takes place every August from Hawkesbury down to Sydney Harbour. Fight poverty and injustice across the globe with every step you take.
Spartan Race – Sydney Sprint/Beast/Hurricane Heat
Obstacle races have become all the rage in the recent years. Show off your strength and endurance in this epic trial at Picton: the Spartan Race. You have the option of three races: the Sprint, Beast, or Hurricane Heat. The Sprint is 7 km long with 20-23 different obstacles. It’s a great “starter” race. If you’re looking for something hardcore, try the Beast, which is 20+ km and 30-35 obstacles. Everyone can join in these fitness challenge events at some level!
The Stadium Stomp is an epic race to see you can climb to the top the fastest. You’ll climb over 6,300 steps in both the Sydney Cricket Grounds and Allianz Stadium. You’ll want to spend some time on the StairMaster before signing up for this race.
Are you ready to show us what you’re made of? Sign up for one of the world’s toughest fitness challenge event – the Tough Mudder. You’ll run, walk, climb, and crawl your way through this 18-20 mile course of over 20 different obstacles that includes things like mud, water, and fire.
The Colour Run
If obstacle courses aren’t your thing then maybe the Colour Run is? After all, it is the “Happiest 5k on the Planet.” Enjoy a leisurely 5k run through Centennial Park while getting colourful bags of dye thrown at you mid stride. You’ll be a colourful, sweaty mess by the end.
