You have likely been told many times to stop exercising while injured!
In certain situations this can apply but, in most situations, there are ways in which you can safely exercise and work around your injury!
For certain major injuries, exercise should be stopped but for injuries such as slight muscle tears, sprains or impact injuries, there are ways to work around them. It doesn’t mean you have to go into the gym and have an earth shattering workout. Doing even a small amount of exercise will be beneficial in keeping you in shape and ready for when you are back to 100%.
The best approach is to keep it simple and, if you aren’t sure what you can and can’t do, check with a professional. Simple exercises can include, if your upper body is injured, complete light leg strengthening exercises or cardio. The same goes for if your lower body is injured.
If you are unable to complete any type of strengthening exercises, try out some rehab exercises. Or even just walking daily will help to keep your motivation high and help you to get your dose of exercise!
