Water

Yes, good old water can help boost your metabolism and maximise your fat burning potential. Your body needs water to burn the kilojoules it consumes from food. If you are not fully hydrated, your metabolism slows down and doesn’t work efficiently.

Studies have also found that drinking a glass or two of water before a meal can help you eat less. You should aim to drink at least eight glasses, or two litres, of water every day.

Coffee

Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. This is the reason you probably need coffee to function in the morning. Caffeine has strong fat burning powers as well.

Caffeine increases the level of epinephrine, or adrenaline, in our blood. It then travels through blood to our fat stores where it signals our body to release fat for metabolism. Studies have also indicated that caffeine can increase your overall resting metabolism, meaning you’ll burn more energy while you’re sleeping. Just make sure you don’t load your coffee with heaps of sugar, as that would defeat the purpose of drinking it for fat loss potential.

Green Tea

Several studies have found that green tea can increase your metabolism and burn more fat. Green tea is high in antioxidants, which is good for your overall health, and it can help inhibit fat absorption by supporting healthy glucose levels. Green tea is a great alternative to sugar drinks, like soda and energy drinks, so drink up!
